I had to laugh. Crying only makes your eyes puffy.

Needless to say I’m way behind on everything, but I’m laughing a lot. I’m laughing for my kids, to teach them when life goes wrong and karma is just taking a big fat deposit, you just have to roll with it and make the most of it. I am finding thanks in simple things, with the health issues of our family dog, I am praising God that our kids are healthy and well. With the can opener breaking and spoiling my very hard planned dinner, I am thankful we have food to eat. I am feeling amazing spiritual growth this year in the midst of all the crazy and feel blessed to be able to pass along the laughter to our children.

These were from the day before Thanksgiving. It was fabulously warm outside and the kids were enjoying some bike time. Until the city stopped by to mess with the fire hydrants and turned our street into a flowing river. Like all puddles, we encouraged them to jump and splash to their hearts content. And followed up with a soapy bath inside.

This session was never supposed to happen. I was supposed to be there to watch Miss L being born. But like all well laid plans, fate had other ideas. Momma talked to me three days past her due date to say her midwife didn’t think anything would be happening for another few days, and after a little chatter I joked that I’d enjoy a glass of wine with my husband later that evening and we set up to connect again soon.

At 9PM Momma messaged me to say she’d started having some contractions, but she was convinced that they weren’t real and I should go have a glass of wine and she’d call in the morning. Three hours later I get a text message from her husband saying that their daughter had been born and the midwife wasn’t even there yet. I don’t think I’d ever been so disappointed to hear about a baby being born.

As with all my birth clients, I offer a newborn session in case situations like these happen. Momma had some fabulously unique ideas for her session and I loved working with her and her family. Using their street, house, and a family church pew made this session so special to me for so many reasons.

Alice came with some friends…

So cute! Two girl puppies remain, Ella and Emma, and they’re just approaching two weeks now. Perfect snuggling age! I’ll try and post updates on them once in awhile, they’re just too cute not to! Of course little sis wanted hair curls too.

We decided to meet at the studio for the last minute changes and make-up before running to the theater.

That was my handsome lil guy in the back getting all buttoned up. Poor guy had so much hairspray in his hair to keep it combed over I think it looked plastic.

Sadly once the curlers came out we were rushing to the theater and I forgot to take my camera inside to get any pictures of the finished product. I’ll be looking to get a good set this coming weekend, though.

Yes I’m that behind on my family’s photos. Aye.

This year Caden is intent on learning how to ride his bike. It’s been a process, I think my child was born without the understanding of how to pedal at all, until the last few weeks. Out of no where he seemed to suddenly understand the concept and take off with it. This has lead into evening spurts of putting him on a bike and trying to coach him into moving himself forward. Of course, the first step is always to check the bike to ensure it’s safe to ride.

And away we go….

So often we get overwhelmed and frustrated with things that are going wrong, and I think it’s nice to take a minute to remember that life is all about the rollercoaster ups and downs. We have to learn to embrace and enjoy every stage of life that we’re in or we’ll never be able to be happy and find contentment.
