Such a special session for me. Not only is this a fabulous squishy baby session, but this also is my first session taking baby pictures with younger sibling when I was there just two years ago taking baby pictures of older brother. I love it. I especially love how free it felt to be able to go through the session doing whatever seemed like fun, trying new ideas and getting a few flops along the way just to see if they’d work.

Finally, I love the love that already shows between brother and brother.

And thanks to this lil guy, my kids now know and love TomKat on my phone too.

I think maternity sessions are my favorite kind of session. There is just something so magical about them. The amazement, the love, the chemistry… I can never not fall in love with a woman and her baby bump. Every single one is glowing and gorgeous and full of excitement. Always a joy to photograph.

This little angle gave her Momma quite a scare tonight.

And coming in four weeks early caught everyone off guard. But Daddy remembered to call me, and I left home immediately to race to the hospital. I arrived in time to see this –

I think my life just skipped ten days. And in those ten days I’ve managed to look at my emails exactly 3 times due to some very extenuating family circumstances. So if I owe you an email, I apologize. I will be spending hours online this evening trying to sort through them all. Coffee pot will be joining me.

This session was never supposed to happen. I was supposed to be there to watch Miss L being born. But like all well laid plans, fate had other ideas. Momma talked to me three days past her due date to say her midwife didn’t think anything would be happening for another few days, and after a little chatter I joked that I’d enjoy a glass of wine with my husband later that evening and we set up to connect again soon.

At 9PM Momma messaged me to say she’d started having some contractions, but she was convinced that they weren’t real and I should go have a glass of wine and she’d call in the morning. Three hours later I get a text message from her husband saying that their daughter had been born and the midwife wasn’t even there yet. I don’t think I’d ever been so disappointed to hear about a baby being born.

As with all my birth clients, I offer a newborn session in case situations like these happen. Momma had some fabulously unique ideas for her session and I loved working with her and her family. Using their street, house, and a family church pew made this session so special to me for so many reasons.

Some of you know that recently my grandfather passed away and I traveled out of state to visit just a few weeks before. The trip was an emotional one, but it was good to see him and other family members. While I was there I met up with an old friend from high school who’d just had her baby. I was thrilled to be able to spend an afternoon together talking and taking pictures of her precious little boy. I’m excited to finally be able to share them with you now.

The package includes coverage of the Birth, a slide show set to music, and a CD of images from the birth with a personal print release. Email for more information. Space is limited due to unpredictability of birthing.

Lucy Eades – We’re looking for someone to photograph our birth for us next summer. We’re not pregnant…YET. Hope to be soon though! How many births have you photographed? Any homebirths?

I love babies.

I love the way they smell. I love the way they sound. I love how you can just sit and watch them breathe for hours on end and not want to look away.

I love *LOVE* love when I have a chance to spend a day taking pictures of one.

Isn’t this family GORGEOUS! I am so excited to be able to watch them continue to grow over the years to come.

And as most of you are expecting, here is the rest of the session. I can never resist a good slideshow.

I love one year olds. There is something so baby and yet so grown up about them. They’re finally walking, or very nearly walking, and their eyes are so expressive and aware. I just can’t resist them.

Little S-Man was no different. From the moment I walk into his home and allowed him to give me a tour I was in love.
